Flowers Close up

Went home to Christchurch to see dad. Found my very first digital camera! Only 3 mega pixels, no proper zoom. Takes absolutely hideous quality photos. So I tried to master the blurry effect. These are flowers from Christchurch Botanical Gardens.

Cats

Mum helps out at one of the Christchurch catteries. I tagged along one day.
Cats are so cute, never sit still though. You need to keep on clicking to capture the moment as every single move is completely unpredictable. Mum used some of my photos to make little posters outside each cat's cage that states their name, habits etc. The cats who that had good photos got adopted out really soon. Coincidence? Hmmm, maybe.

Winter In Dunedin 2007

Winter Dunedin 2007. I couldn't resist taking a pic of myself in the end. Sent it to folks in Christchurch to show them the weather.

Speights Bottles

Loads of Speights bottles from the party the night before. Thanks 119!!!!!! I love you guys! You know who you are.

Fountain of Faces

When a button is pushed this fountain releases little streams of water which hits the faces hanging on the mobile. This makes them spin really fast, spraying the water on the by-standers. I really like capturing water in motion. These photos didn't turn out the way I wanted them to, but I didn't want to get a wet camera either. Using a camera zoom (which I absolutely hate) I captured these. It would have been nice if I was able to come closer.

Autumn's Arrival

Red is such a beautiful colour! I took these in Autumn 2007, concentrating on the colour and the pattern of the leaves. The sun was hardly out, which helped reduce the lens flare and create an even tone in the photos. The photos have been fixed in the SONY photo-fixing program. The contrast has been increased for a brighter effect.

Kitchen of a restaurant

Class went to a restaurant kitchen for a part of research assignment. We all were using our cameras as notebooks and note taking. It was a heaps of fun, not too mention we got a 3 course meal for free!

Mack, Old Boy

This is a friends dog Mac, as in "MacGyver". He is about 15 years old, so all he does is nap. He is probably the easiest animal I had to photograph so far. These photos were taken in black and white setting on my camera, just to see if there was any difference between taking photos in b/w from the start or modifying them later. Not too much difference as you can fix the photos the way you want in PhotoShop.

Black and White Graffiti

These have been modified on the computer. I usually take photographs in colour and then adjust them later. This is done because i want to keep two versions of the photograph, just in case I might need to borrow the elements from the other outcome.

Graffiti model

These pictures were modified in levels so that it appears more two-dimensional. This was so that the model would appear to look like a piece of graffiti. The graffiti appears around every corner of Dunedin's Student suburbs. I really like the look of it, looks really urban.

Nature

I decided to focus on shape and texture. Plants are the perfect subject matter for me to practice with. Taking a walk with a camera definitely gives you the opportunity to notice the beauty in everyday life. I like capturing little details that people do not usually notice. It makes it more special when nature is "rediscovered".
